EHA

Gathering top experts in all hematological fields

The EHA brings together top experts from all hematological disciplines in a range of meetings throughout the year.

The EHA-SWG Scientific Meetings are a joint effort of the EHA Specialized Working Groups (SWGs) and EHA to intensify collaboration. The meetings deliver a high-quality scientific program and a platform for sharing in-depth scientific knowledge with hematologists around the world. The innovative format includes discussions with patient organizations, regulators, and pharmaceutical companies.

5th EHA-EBMT European CAR T-cell Meeting

The leading European event for basic, translational, and clinical research in CAR T-cell immunotherapy was co-hosted by EHA and EBMT on February 9-11 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Chaired by Prof M Hudecek and Prof A Sureda, topics included deep science and translational, clinical, and commercial development for CAR T, amongst others. The first-ever reported clinical data was a special highlight.

The Commonalities and Differences of Myeloid Neoplasms meeting took place on November 2-4, 2023 in Budapest, Hungary, chaired by Prof U Platzbecker, Prof K Döhner, and Prof C Harrison. This important meeting for clinicians and scientists in myeloid malignancies provided an update on the current understanding of the pathophysiology, novel treatments and future therapy in this complex field. It was a great and rare opportunity for these experts to meet in person, exchange ideas, and ask questions.

EHA-SWG Scientific Meeting on MDS/MPN/AML

EHA-SWG Scientific Meeting on Red Cell and Iron Metabolism Defects

The 'From Basic Science to Clinical Case Application' meeting took place on October 12-14, 2023 in Budapest, Hungary, chaired by Prof A Taher and Prof A Iolascon. The meeting addressed red cell and iron biology during the erythropoietic differentiation process. Discussions focused on the underlying machinery and mechanisms that allow this enormous cell production and its alterations to cause red blood cell disorders. Experts outlined diagnosis and treatment options of both inherited and acquired anemias and covered various red cell disorders.

Webinar on the interaction of von Willebrand factor with platelet glycoprotein Ib: pathological implications and clinical manifestations

The SWG on Thrombocytopenias and Platelet Function Disorders and the SWG on Bleeding and Thrombosis collaborated on this webinar. The webinar addressed the importance of von Willebrand factor (VWF) in various mechanisms focused on GPIba, including platelet formation from megakaryocytes, managing disorders related to loss- and gain-of-function variants of GP1BA or VWF, and more.
