Foreword

EHA

The European Hematology Association (EHA) has undergone a great transformation in recent years. As one of the world’s largest member associations for hematology, our growth is evident both in the number of participants we attract to our activities, and in their scope.

At the threshold of a new era, our focus is on our members and on our ambition to meet their needs in an increasingly challenging world.

Our mission is simple yet engaging: Advancing Hematology Together. To achieve this mission, we are committed to fostering collaboration, education, research, and advocacy. And through these tools, we aim to achieve our vision of working together towards prevention, cure, and quality of life for all patients with blood disorders.

However, we recognize the enormous gaps between that which even the most dedicated hematology professionals can offer their patients in different areas of Europe and the world. Through our educational programs, we improve hematologists’ knowledge; by increasing the inclusivity of our research support, we encourage and help develop research in all regions, harnessing the wealth of our diversity; and through our advocacy activities, we hope to bring better access to all aspects of healthcare for hematology patients.

Bridging the gaps

During 2023, EHA contributed significantly to advancing hematology and bridging the gaps for all hematologists. Our educational program included significant course additions and reached a record number of users. We inaugurated “ring-fenced” research grants to promote research in under-funded regions and we strengthened our ties with national societies to ensure we address hematologists’ specific needs. But perhaps the most important sign of our development is the hematology community’s ever-increasing interest in EHA, as shown by the number of people attending meetings and trainings and the response to calls for volunteers for committees and the Board.

This community engagement is the greatest assurance that we can shape hematology together.

In the coming year, we will be inaugurating multiple initiatives and platforms to facilitate communication and collaboration between hematology professionals. We are confident these will create an even stronger hematology network in which everyone will benefit from each other’s knowledge. Join us to benefit from all the advantages that belonging to EHA can bring you. Together we can build the future of hematology.
